The rainx won't clean your windshield without some elbow grease. Apply the rainx and let it cure for 20 min and buff it again after with a different clean micro fibre. I'm about to head out there with a bottle of Windex to try to get things back to normal. Use a claybar or something to do a deep clean of the windshield first. I use rainx on my silverado and use the additive in my washer fluid. So, am I applying it wrong, buying the wrong stuff, expecting something different than what it promises or just unlucky? Or all of the above? What's the trick to using this? Oh and yes I have heard of Aquapel and that it lasts longer but from my understanding it doesn’t work quite as well and it’s more expensive so it doesn’t really make sense. I remember similar issues the first time I tried the stuff many years ago. To make matters worse, the windshield kept fogging up on the outside, so I needed the wipers just to keep the fog off. ![]() I wasn't expecting miracles, but I did expect some sheeting of the water. Unlucky for me, through my entire commute, I had constant dew on the windshield. If your vehicle has a rain-sensing wiper system, choose washer fluid that doesn’t leave streaks and thoroughly cleans the windshield. Lucky for me, it rained the next day, so I could check out the results. Grabbed a bottle at Walmart, went out to the Forester with a roll of paper towels and the bottle of Rain-X and took my time doing all the windows according to the directions on the bottle. ![]() A picture probably helps: The pic above shows my windscreen a few seconds after using the wipers. When the car is not moving, water seems to accumulate especially in those areas where the smudges are. Fast forward to last week, when after reading so many people here praising it, I figured I'd try it again. In rain conditions, my wipers throw away the water well, but it seems that a small film still remains. This is a product that works hard to melt and remove frost, ice and snow as you drive. I remember many years ago (probably around when I first started driving) trying Rain-X and being very disappointed.
